Democratic Alliance for knowledge freedom along with, Free Software Community of India and Student DeveloperSociety is organizing a Mini-Debconf event at Kochi, India titledDebUtsav Kochi. The event is organized as a miniature, regional form ofthe official DebConf that is conducted annually. The main objectives ofthe event is to bring Debian to the general public, act as a hub forcontributors and users of Debian to come together and interact andspread awareness about Free and Open Source Software philosophy in general.
One of the tracks in this event is focused on hands-on workshops thatintroduces Debian packaging to interested participants. It will beusing the native GitLab package that is available in Debian and talkingabout the process of packaging as well as internals of GitLab to getpeople familiarized with the different components and how they interacttogether. The participants will be trained in packaging different Rubygems and NodeJS modules. We expect this workshopto get more people familiar with the technical aspects of the packaging process, which can in turn help them in workig on Debian on the long run.

DAKF Thiruvananthapuram District Committee is planned to conduct a two-day workshop on Block Chain called “Block Chain Primer” exclusively for Computer Science College students on 10th and 11th of August 2018 ( Friday & Saturday) at IIITMK Campus in association with Kerala Block Chain Academy and Welfare Organisation of IT Employees Prathidhwani’s Technical Forum, Technopark.
Blockchain is the technology that underpins the digital urrencyBitcoin – but it has far wider applications and is being commercialisedin a growing number of areas. It has generated muchinterest in technology circles and beyond, because of the new possibilities it opens up in financial services, the public sector and other areas. Compared with traditional database technologies and centralised systems, blockchain implementations can be relatively cheap and require considerably less IT investment to maintain The new technology is expected to bring massive benefits to consumers, to current banking system and to the whole society in general.
Last Date of Registration is 5th August 2018 and there will be a Registration Fee of Rs.350/- per student. The workshop will be handled by experts from abroad & India and will be managed by Block Chain Academy.

Department of Computer Application, CUSAT and Democratic Alliance for Knowledge Freedom jointly organising a three-day workshop on Machine Learning. The workshop will be lead by Free Software Activists, Research scholars from IITs and Data Scientists from Industry. The workshop will cover Basics, Machine learning using python and advanced topics like Deep Learning.
